As Codi rifled through the cabinets of the kitchen she hummed along to the cobra starship CD that she had blasting from the living room. She shook her hips to the beat as she finally found what she was looking for. She hopped up onto the counter, grabbed the bag of UTZ buttered popcorn and hopped off of the counter. She grabbed her can of Pepsi and walked out of the kitchen as she took a sip.

She was home alone. Her uncle was at work at the fire station and her aunt had gone out for the day to visit a friend in the next town over. She'd told Codi that she would be back the next day. It was just Codi and her Yorkie Milly home for the day. She walked into the living room and plopped down on the couch next to Milly. She stretched out her legs, causing Milly to nip at her toes. Codi's dark hair flowed down her back as she settled into her seat and opened up the bag of popcorn. She was waiting for her best friend Evelyn to show up.

Ever since Codi had moved here a few months before, she and Evelyn were practically attached at the hip. They were best friends. They were so alike in situations it was crazy and yet somehow, Codi, the crazy one, seemed to be the voice of reason for the girl. Who would that thought? As Codi wiggled her toes, she heard the doorbell ring. She hopped up and yelled, "Coming," right before turning down the stereo a bit. For all she knew it could be a neighbor lodging a complaint. Wouldn't be the first time.

She was pleased to see, though, that it was Evelyn instead. "Well hello there gorgeous! Where have you been all my life?"
